BEAMSWith
A non-profit initiative supporting minority and black-owned small businesses affected by COVID-19 closures and lootings.

The Challenge
I was hired to create a website for a non-profit initiative with limited resources that would showcase their donation map and vision while also generating business leads.
With limited funds, I needed to research alternative website hosting platforms that wouldn't break the bank for this new start-up initiative.

Research
Through researching multiple platforms, I was able to land on a cost-effective platform that was able to showcase the items they needed while keeping them within budget.
My focus after that was to incorporate their donation map onto the website and secure new leads for collaboration as well as more businesses to add to their donation map.

The homepage showcases the donation map, current business goals, and links to their mission and vision.
Quick access for new business leads and potential collaborators.
CTA at the end of vision improves conversion rates.

Redesigning
After sketching the designs, I needed to incorporate the donation map into the website. It wasn't difficult because it was built using Google Maps, but the donation links were not easily accessible on a mobile platform.
As a result, having a catalog of small businesses on the website would make donating easier on both mobile and desktop platforms.

Added additional elements to new leads and descriptions to further improve conversion rates.
Donation map is visible on the catalog page and businesses are grouped by state and sorted by city.
Businesses can tell their story and access to their GoFundMe is available via business name.

Solution
Allowing small businesses and community organizers to contact us in just two steps increased conversion rates and provided new leads for the company's donation map.
In addition, including the small business catalog improved accessibility and made it easier for users to search for specific businesses in their state.
Final Thoughts
Several things we can look into for future updates are redesigning the map interface to work on our website directly, take donations on the website itself and not link through third-party donation pages, and redesign the business list page to incorporate donations to collectives (by city).
A personal takeaway I learned from this project is how to adapt to satisfy business needs with limited resources, a small budget, and adhere to a tight deadline.
